Ironman 4x4 Upgrades I Added To My Volkswagen Amarok

Well, after many adventures in Roxanne, my VW Amarok and a long list of modifications to help turn it into an ultimate tourer, there were a few things missing which, on most peoples 4x4 builds would’ve been at the top of the list - bar work. I recently partnered with Ironman 4x4 to give the rig a bit of a facelift and the few upgrades she was missing.

Amarok Ironman Commercial Deluxe Bull Bar, Driving Lights and Monster Winch

First on the list was their Commercial Deluxe Bull Bar to give the front end some protection. The bar includes LED fog lights, parkers and indicators and also provides a place to mount things like spotlights, antennas and a winch all while maintaining the factory parking sensors. I ended up with a pair of their ‘Eclipse’ LED driving lights (which are ridiculously bright) and a 12000LB ‘Monster’ winch with synthetic rope. Though I’m yet to use the winch, it provides great piece of mind when out on remote tracks (especially since a lot of our travels are solo). Overall, the front bar paired with these accessories really finish off the front end of the car providing the perfect mix of style and practicality.

Amarok Ironman Steel Sidesteps

Moving around the car, Roxanne was also given some side protection. A pair of steel sidesteps finished off nicely with black checker plate offer protection to the sides of the car while providing a convenient step into the rig. These steps also give greater ground clearance opposed to the standard steps, plus the all black look really suits the rest of the car!

Amarok Ironman Rear Bar

The rear end also gained some attention. The factory rear bar has been replaced with Ironman’s full steel rear bumper and integrated towbar. I reckon this rear bar is hands down the nicest looking on the market. Not only does it provide a tow hitch, it provides maximum protection the rear, a better departure angle, recovery points, high lift jack point and maintains the factory parking sensors.

An Ultimate Amarok Tourer with Ironman 4x4

Overall, these upgrades have changed the entire look of the vehicle. The streamlined, matching bar work all the way around has really finished it off perfectly and I love the new look. All of these accessories have given me greater piece of mind when out traveling this vast country and will help protect the rig for years to come.

If you’re looking to upgrade your Amarok (or any 4x4), I highly recommend you check out Ironman 4x4 and these particular bits of gear.

Special thanks to the team at Ironman 4x4 in Townsville for the excellent service and attention to detail on the installation of everything.
